this past birthday was a big one and as such it deserved a really big gift. no, i have not taken up a musical instrument! i bought myself the Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Armchair. i've been in love with this chair for years. i've been to visit it at the shop on a number of occassions, telling myself that i'll buy it for myself for xmas or for my next birthday and i talk myself out of it by the time i get home. i have finally taken the plunge! now it's back to the task of redecorating my apartment. so many little elements are missing still. i've decided that i really need a new rug in my livingroom. i hesitated to buy a really cool kilim on sale and now it's gone! bah. definitely, won't buy one at full price. i have a ton of araucania nature cotton and i'm toying with the idea of knitting one, but i always seem to lose steam with super large projects like that. i've yet to finish either of the 3 afghans i started knitting for myself well over 5 years ago! one has even been reduced in size by 50% (i decided to make it a blanket for ashby instead of for me) and it's been 1 square short of completion for almost a year! this does not bode well for a livingroom rug. i have this great idea to combine the araucania with strips of old sheets to produce something really fun and funky. i'm just really afraid to get in over my head. i really envy knitters who can successfully complete huge projects. have you seen this amazing log cabin? view it and weep.
any suggestions?

That review is just brilliant. "Neurotic, refined, sad people." Well, there you go. (cough, cough) Although since my mother was a professional interior designer, she never pulled a stunt like that woman's. No fear of rectal cancer here.
Congrats on the Ghost chair, it's a killer piece!
